The Children's House
(3-6 years)
Discover, understand and build upon one's learning.
The Children’s House at Montessori 101 School welcomes children aged 3 to 6 in an environment specifically designed to support their overall development. At this key stage, children enter a crucial phase in building their personality and acquiring foundational skills.
Guided by two educators—one French-speaking and one English-speaking—children grow in a calm, structured, and bilingual setting that encourages independence, curiosity, and self-confidence.
A key stage in child development
Between the ages of 3 and 6, children go through what Maria Montessori described as the “conscious absorbent mind.” This is a decisive period during which they intensely develop their intellectual, social, and emotional abilities.
In this environment, children learn to:
- Structure their thinking
- Develop their language skills
- Refine their motor skills
- Build concentration and independence
Each activity is carefully designed to meet their needs and support their natural development, while respecting their individual pace.
Montessori education for lasting learning
The Children’s House is based on the core principles of Montessori education: a prepared environment, adapted materials, and guided freedom.
Children progress through different learning areas:
- Practical life (independence and coordination)
- Language (reading, writing, expression)
- Mathematics (logic and reasoning)
- Sensorial (exploration and perception)
- Culture (science, geography, and discovery of the world)
This approach allows each child to learn with enjoyment in a concrete and progressive way, while building confidence.
A French-English bilingual environment
Each class benefits from a bilingual teaching team, with one French-speaking educator and one English-speaking educator. Children are naturally exposed to both languages throughout the day, encouraging a smooth and spontaneous acquisition of English.
This linguistic immersion is a real asset for cognitive development and cultural openness.
A structure adapted to children’s rhythm
The Children’s House is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Morning drop-off is until 8:45 am, and pick-up starts at 4:15 pm. The school is closed on weekends and during school holidays.
Each day is structured to balance learning time, exploration, breaks, and outdoor activities, creating a rhythm that supports children’s well-being and development.
